Woods Hole

Woods Hole began with a clear interior intent, create spaces that feel natural and warm, but still read sleek and architectural. The client wanted distinctive wood character without visual clutter, so the design team kept the palette reserved and let one material carry the language of the interior.

ICON® CVG Douglas Fir became that unifying element, running through interior trim and continuing into custom millwork. Used for cabinetry, shelving, and built-in furniture, ICON brings a quiet consistency to the home while still offering a pronounced, distinctive grain up close. Crisp lines, clean transitions, and refined detailing allow the material to feel modern rather than rustic, with ICON doing its best work in the moments you touch and see at arm’s length.

WHY ICON®

ICON was right for this project because Douglas Fir's vertical grain does two things simultaneously: it brings warmth and visual depth, and it lends itself to clean, precise detailing.

That combination, character without noise, is what the project required.

PROJECT IMPACT

By extending ICON beyond trim into built-ins and furniture elements, the project achieves material continuity without feeling monotonous. Repetition is used as a design tool, creating calm, cohesive interiors where the architecture stays quiet and the detailing provides the interest.

Design Notes

The craftsmanship is most apparent in the millwork details, especially the ICON bench seat and the credenza. Close-up moments like drawer lines, corners, and transitions highlight the precision of the work and the refined character ICON can bring to interior applications.
