Peterborough-1

PETERBOROUGH

Perched high on a mountainside, this custom residence demanded a material palette that was as striking as its setting. With a design that leaned modern-contemporary and featured dramatic black board and batten siding, the homeowner wanted to introduce natural warmth and contrast. Drawn to its clean look and distinct texture, the homeowner chose ICON Maple to create a unique aesthetic that elevated the home beyond the norm.

WHY ICON®

ICON was selected for this project based on the builder’s previous experience and trust in the product’s performance. The homeowner was captivated by the look of thermally modified Maple. While the builder had used ICON extensively on other homes, this homeowner wanted something different. ICON Maple offered the same trusted durability but introduced a lighter color palette and soft texture that complemented the home’s mountain backdrop and modern design. Its ability to span both exterior and interior applications added to the appeal, supporting a cohesive design experience from outside in.

Project Benefits

ICON Maple brought multiple benefits to the project. Its dimensional stability made it ideal for wrapping beams, soffits, siding, and interior paneling. This ensured clean lines and a refined finish in every application. Installers appreciated how workable it was, despite being a hardwood. And because ICON Maple retains a lighter, warm tone even after thermal modification, it provided the visual clarity and contrast needed to complement the home’s darker architectural elements.

Design Notes

ICON Maple was used across soffits, siding, trim, and even interior alcoves to carry a consistent tone throughout the project. This inside-out continuity enhanced the overall design language, anchoring the home’s modern silhouette with organic warmth. Paired against dark vertical board and batten accents, the Maple stood out. It added texture and interest while reinforcing the home's custom, high-end appeal.
