Woods Hole, MA

Woods Hole began with the clear intention of creating interior spaces which reflect Nature and the warmth of their surroundings.

In order to accurately convey the design intent, the client wisely choose wood as the primary material for the project. This choice allowed the design team to seamlessly align the material with the intent throughout, while minimizing visual clutter.

ICON® CVG Douglas Fir became the unifying element, originating with the interior trim and continuing through the custom millwork. It was used for cabinetry, shelving, and the built-in furniture. One of the inherent attributes of ICON is its ability to convey the richness, texture, and natural beauty of wood without being overpowering. Fine grain, clear, subtle color tones, allow for clean transitions, and refined detailing. The result is a modern yet natural feel, blending perfectly with spaces which seek to be both modern and comforting.

Why ICON®

ICON was right for this project because Douglas Fir’s vertical grain does two things simultaneously: it brings warmth and visual depth, and it lends itself to clean, precise detailing.

Project Impact

By extending ICON beyond trim into built-ins and furniture elements, the project achieves material continuity without feeling monotonous. Repetition is used as a design tool, creating a calm cohesive interior.

Design Notes

The craftsmanship is most apparent in the mill work details, especially the bench seat and the credenza. Close-up moments like drawer lines, corners, and transitions highlight what ICON can bring to interior applications.
